the process began by turning the form on a lathe

young israeli designer noam bar yochai has designed the ming vase.
in this glazed earthenware piece, yochai has incorporated decorative techniques found in
chinese craft and has combined them with new technology. 58 LED lights are used to illuminate
a random pattern, which ends up spelling the word 'ming' across the vase, reflecting on our
society's perceptions of aesthetic values throughout time, and questioning the role of craft
in our industrialized world.
